Electric Fixtures Checklist

The following list will help organize the process of selecting electrical fixtures (lights) for your home.  Be sure to take this list and the electrical plan that we will develop along as you visit the lighting showroom.

Kitchen
Recessed ‘can’ fixture for ambient lighting
Under cabinet Fixtures for task lighting
Pendant fixtures at bar tops and islands

Dining
Chandelier over dining table

Living
Recessed ’can’ fixture for ambient lighting
Consider floor outlets for lamps

Bedrooms
Switched outlets by bed
Ceiling fan with or without light

Bathrooms
Recessed ‘can’ fixture in shower and for ambient lighting
Pendants or wall mounted fixture at vanity
Don’t forget an exhaust fan on a timer to remove excess moisture

Closets
Recessed fixtures can work well in walk-in closets
Flourescent fixtures mounted over the door can work for shallow closets

Storage & Garage
Recessed ‘can’ fixtures are an upgrade in these locations
Often surface mounted fluorescents will do the trick

Exterior
Wall mounted fixtures at each door
Security lighting on motion sensors
Ceiling fan for the porch

Other
Please consider using compact flourescent bulbs throughout
And remember to think about dimmer locations
